Bihari Qaumi Movement (BQM) – another split in MQM?

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was originally formed as Muhajir Qaumi Movement in early 1980s, claiming to protect the rights of Muhajirs, the immigrants who left their homes in India to come to Pakistan in and after 1947. These Muhajirs mainly belonged to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh states of India. Arriving in Karachi, the capital of Pakistan at that time, the Muhajirs settled across the city forming communities and neighborhoods. One such settlement was Orangi Town which, though had a mix of ethnic groups, mainly consists of immigrants from Bihar, India (1947) and Bangladesh (1971).

Orangi Town has a population of approximately 2.5 million although government records insist that it has 700,000 inhabitants. Claimed to be the largest shanty town in the world, Orangi Town has surprisingly high literacy rate. In last 15 years Orangi Town’s demography has substantially changed as Pakhtun refugees fleeing from war in Afghanistan and Taliban conflict in northern Pakistan have settled in this town in large numbers. This has also ignited ongoing clashes between MQM and ANP for land occupation in Orangi Town and elsewhere in Karachi.

Orangi Town is considered as a strong hold of MQM and the Biharis die-hard loyalists of Altaf Hussain. Dr. Imran Farooq, the founder of MQM, was also a Bihari and this contributed a lot in influencing people from Bihar and Orangi Town to join MQM.

During the operation of 1990s, Orangi Town suffered a lot as Bihari youth were rounded up and encountered in huge numbers by law enforcement agencies. In recent years, Orangi Town remained in news due to frequent clashes between MQM and ANP due to which the residents were besieged in their homes for days at length. That, added with the incidents of extortion and street crime, multiplied the physical and financial suffering of the people of Orangi Town.

After recent wave of target killings, the administration banned motorcycle riding in Orangi Town, while pillion riding is already banned in Karachi. A day after the ban was imposed, residents of Orangi Town came out on the streets having a peaceful rally against this ban. However, they were fired upon and two men were killed. This made the administration reverse the decision of motorcycle riding in Orangi Town.

Soon after these incidents there were series of conventions in Orangi Town by a formerly unknown party called Bihari Qaumi Movement. Its leaders, apparently residents of Orangi Town, blamed stakeholders of current government for the situation.

Following video covers one such speech. Listen to the shouts of Jiye Bihari during the speech:

Apparently a member of Bihari Qaumi Movement (BQM) is participating as independent candidate in the by-election of PS-94, seat of Provincial Sindh Assembly vacant after the death of MPA Raza Haider. MQM leaders confirmed that Abdul Haq, one of the three independent candidates, was the former Orangi Town nazim belonging to the party’s Haq Parast Group. The by-election, scheduled for September 22, is postponed till October 17 as MQM has abolished political activities for 10 days to mourn the death of Dr. Imran Farooq.

Is the BQM represents a split in MQM? Will it be another offshoot like MQM Haqiqi? (now known as Muhajir Qaumi Movement and is further branched into Afaq and Aamir groups). Only time will tell. However, MQM has a history of dealing brutally with those that divert from the policies of its Quaid.

This is my 1st ever Article I thought this may be helpful and I may get some valuable comments & suggestions from you

Websites to Work as Freelancer !!!

In my view selecting a right website in the beginning for working as freelancer and start making money online is most important thing of all. There are many (I say hundreds or thousands) out there. Few of the biggest names in the industry are

Odesk.com

One of the biggest website for freelancer available on internet. On this website most of the work is available on hourly basis (Odesk.com provides its own software to track the record of the number of hours spent working) but also have jobs paid on project basis. By the time I am writing more than 76 Million Dollars are earned by the providers on this website.

New providers can build reputation by taking tests available on odesk.com. It is recommended to pas as many test as possible to build a reputation for yourself.

Elance.com

Elance.com is also a giant in the freelancing world. The best part of this website is there is no limit for you to apply on number of projects per month like on other websites available on internet. You can apply for as many jobs as you want per month.

By the time I am writing about 2 million Dollars ($ 20,000,000) are earned by freelancers through this website and the good part is there are way less provider than odesk.com on this website. That means low competition higher and chances of success.

Getafreelancer.com

Biggest websites for freelancers and I say best as this website has more room for new comers than any other website available on internet. On average more than 1000, projects are posted daily on this website with a great room for newbies. Specially projects for less skilled users who can handle only simple data entry task (I myself once made $500 in a month at GAF With my skills near to zero).

Mturk.com

Most amazing website I ever came across on internet for beginners who are willing to make some money online but don't know where to start and are not able to find right opportunity. Mturk.com is backed by amazon.com on this website you don't have to apply for a job and then wait and go through the process of interviewing. You look for a job you like (Called HIT) and start working and get paid (Simple).

The only drawback so far I noticed is that it only pays cash to the residents of United States and India but people from other countries may also work and get money in their amazon.com account. You can shop with that money or even can sell that account online (You have to be resource full) and receive money in cash.

Limeexchange.com

Limeexchange.com is also one of the emerging freelancing website with a very cool and nice paid affiliate program & hundreds of projects for providers.

There are other thousands of freelancing websites out there like

§ scriptlance.com

§ eufreelance.com

§ getacoder.com

§ ifreelance.com

§ joomlancers.com

§ programmermeetdesigner.com

§ programmingbids.com

'Go America Go' rally on The Mall

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) organised a rally against the US drone attacks and army operation in Swat and the tribal belt on The Mall from Nasir Bagh to the Punjab Assembly amid tight security on Sunday. It also announced to hold anti-America and anti-government demonstrations throughout the country.
The protest rally participated by hundreds of JI activists demanded for ceasing Swat operation and abandoning of ‘pro-America’ policies pioneered by former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf.
The party activists chanted slogans against the US and expressed their annoyance of the governments of American and Pakistan for causing steep rise in the death toll of civilians due to the military operation and drone attacks in Fata.
Ameer JI chief Munawwar Hassan led the marchers along with other party stalwarts including Liaquat Baloch, Amir-ul-Azeem, Syed Waqas, Arshad Baghu and Azhar Iqbal. The Mall, the centre of protest rally, remained echoing with slogans like “Go America Go”, “Friend of America is a traitor” and “India-Israel-America connivance unacceptable”.
Addressing the gathering, JI Chief Munawwar Hassan said they were not opposed to the American people, but the policies of the US governments had always favoured the forces conspirating against Muslims around the globe.
He criticised White House for pressing the Pakistan government to remove troops from eastern borders and asserting that India was not an enemy of Pakistan.
He suggested the PPP-led government not to get rid of American trap, saying that India was Pakistan’s archrival and the three wars fought between the two countries were the vivid evidence. He also listed Indian embassy in Kabul and the consul offices in other parts of the country as a threat to Pakistan.
He said India had cut the water share of Pakistan violating Pak-India water treaty and was building more than 60 dams over the rivers. He was of the view there was no doubt that India creating anarchy in different provinces of Pakistan through terrorism and extremisms.
He blamed Indian secret agency “RAW” for sending suicide bombers in a bid to destabilise the country and demanded the government and army to foiling Indian attempts to emerge as mini superpower in the region to serve the ulterior designs of the US.
He slammed those who propagate about upholding the writ of government, saying why did such elements remained silent when Karachi was turned into pool of blood and people were massacred in the result of drone attacks.
The JI chief alleged America for trying to wrap up Pakistan’s nuclear programme and stated that the ongoing military action in Swat and other parts of the Pushto speaking belt was a part of the said plan.
He vowed to continue the anti-US protest rallies to expose the ploys of America.
He denounced Prime Minister Gilani for his pro-American stance, saying that initially he was talking about a national conference but all of sudden announced to launch the operation under the influence of Obama administration.
He claimed that writ of government would prevail only when there would be supremacy of law and constitution in the country.
Liaquat Baloch said the JI would continue the movement to routing out America from the region. He warned that a 1971 like situation had been created in the country.
He alleged that the civilians were being killed just to term Zardari’s trip to America a success. He said the Balochistan issue should be resolved through dialogue instead of force.

Enough is enough

Hi,

I've just signed this emergency petition calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, you might want to do the same. Already over 600 people have been killed and the death toll is climbing daily. Read the email below to learn more...

−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−
Dear friends,

The bloodshed in Gaza is escalating −− the death toll now stands at over 600 people and rising, almost half of them civilians and over 100 children dead.[1] As Israeli tanks, airplanes and artillery bombard targets in thickly populated urban areas, thousands more have been injured and 1.5 million terrified civilians have no escape from this prison−like enclave −− the borders have been sealed. Hamas continues to fight and fire rockets deep into Israel, killing 5 Israeli civilians.

Our worldwide call for an internationally−guaranteed ceasefire to protect civilians on all sides has begun to ring out loud and clear, winning the support of leaders in Europe, the Middle East and beyond: hopeful outlines of a deal are emerging.[2] But Israel is rejecting a truce for now and escalating its offensive, while US President Bush is opposing a fair UN ceasefire, trying instead to impose a skewed alternative that could legitimize Israel's suffocating isolation of Gaza.[3]

Enough is enough: these civilian deaths can't go on, and we can't let Bush and co block a fair, negotiated ceasefire. 250,000 of us have signed the ceasefire petition, let's make it half a million −− we'll publish it in a hard−hitting ad in the Washington Post and deliver it in meetings with UN Security Council members −− follow the link below to see the ad, sign the petition, and forward this message to all your friends and family:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/gaza_time_for_peace/98.php?cl_tf_sign=1

Our efforts really can make a difference −− Israel's own foreign minister admits that international pressure, if intense enough, could ensure a ceasefire. As the international community debates and delays, civilians are dying by the day. The top UN official in Gaza says, "There's nowhere safe in Gaza. Everyone here is terrorized and traumatized." Opposing a United Nations resolution, Bush reportedly proposes to exclude Hamas from any ceasefire deal and leave Israel a free hand, something that would guarantee that the violence continues. That's why we're targeting incoming President Obama and US decision−makers, as well as the European Union and other international leaders, to pursue a fair and stable resolution.

To be lasting, a ceasefire must protect civilians and end all attacks −− Israeli bombings and incursions as well as the rockets Palestinian factions fire into southern Israel. International supervision is desperately needed at the borders, to reopen Gaza's borders and crossings for food, fuel, medicine and goods, to prevent weapon−smuggling which has only grown under the blockade, and to monitor and enforce the ceasefire on both sides.[4]

Hamas, which won elections in 2006 and now runs Gaza, suggests it will agree to such a ceasefire.[5] It should be challenged to live up to its word just like Israel. There is no military solution for either side −− it's time for world powers to step in, advancing a fair deal to protect civilians on all sides and let them live their lives in peace and security. Sign the petition now at the link below and send this message to everyone you know −− we'll publish it in The Washington Post and elsewhere, and seek face−to−face meetings to deliver the petition with the Obama team, the UN Security Council and European leaders:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/gaza_time_for_peace/98.php?cl_tf_sign=1

With hope and determination,

Paul, Graziela, Ricken, Luis, Alice, Brett, Ben, Iain, Paula, Veronique, Milena and the whole Avaaz team

P.S. We wrote to European, US and Arab leaders last week about our campaign, and received several responses −− now we need to escalate the pressure. For a report on many of Avaaz's other campaigns so far, see: https://secure.avaaz.org/en/report_back_2

Israeli terrorism, no one to stop it?

Saturday is the holy day for all Jews in world. This is a well known part of the Jewish customs. During Saturday they exchange greetings, saying “Shabbat Shalom” or “Peace Saturday”. Under the Israeli occupation in West Bank and Gaza since over 41 years, the Palestinians never lived one day of peace, even not one Saturday. The Jewish State turned their “Shabbat Shalom”, the Peace Saturday, into a BLOODY one.

In Gaza, today one million and a half Palestinians lived a “special day” of the Jewish “Shabbat Shalom”, after over 60 airplanes of the war criminal Israeli air forces launched strikes during the holy Shabbat, murdering over 205 and injuring over 740, while targeting the Police headquarter in Gaza. Among the victims at the police headquarters are over 120 dead civilian. The count of victims increases each moment. The Israeli war against humanity has just started, according to the statement of war criminal Ehud Barak during a press conference.

I, on my part, condemn aggression of the Zionist forces in the strongest possible terms. May God damn these Zionist forces to hell.
